I really love food and the theatre, so this was perfect. The vegetarian menu I chose was so delicious that I danced with my plate in my hands.

The story of the journey

Romantic tour

We stayed at the 5* Lotte Hotel Moscow near Smolenskaya metro station. The hotel was perfect, and we actually had to force ourselves to leave so we would travel around the city. We had been to Moscow several times before for work, but this time we decided to spend a romantic weekend together. The hotel concierge suggested the Moscow: Little Europe city tour, which included a selection of romantic sights and delicious restaurants.

In the morning, we had a delicious breakfast at 10:00 and then set off according to our guidebook. The first location was the Kremlin Embankment, which we reached in 45 minutes on foot, a perfect walk after our hearty meal. When you come to the capital to relax, not just to run between business meetings, a walk along the river is an absolute pleasure. Strolling along the embankment, we had time to admire the Kremlin and the Tainitsky Garden before reaching Zaryadye Park. Exploring the amazing landscape, we ventured into the Ice Cave before returning out to the sun and continuing on our way.

When we got hungry, we went in search of a restaurant (the hotel staff recommended several wonderful options) and opted for Marmo. The food was like nothing we had ever tasted before: melt-in-your-mouth meats, flavourful sauces, and the unique dishes. We left, inspired and energised for the next stop.

It took us 16 minutes to get to Aptekarsky Island, which immediately enveloped us in an intoxicating floral scent. We spent 3 hours admiring the huge collection of rare plants that we didn't even know existed, sitting in the romantic winter garden, and dancing along with the grand piano music. We will surely come back.

We walked for 45 minutes to the next location, Patriarch's Ponds, stopping on the way at Cafe Tchaikovsky. The restaurant's location is ideal for going to the theatre, as its name implies. Both desserts we tried were delicious. In the end, we couldn't resist taking Swan Lake and Raspberry Sonata with us! Next, we had a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood and shopped at a few specialty boutiques.

Our evening ended on the rooftop of one of the buildings on Novy Arbat. We had a mesmerising view of Moscow at night, accompanied by a glass of red wine and a wonderful penne pasta. It's amazing how the concierge staff knew exactly how to organise a perfect ending to a perfect day.

My husband and I are very pleased and grateful to the entire concierge team for our fabulous weekend. My husband and I felt happy and in love, like on the day we met.
